The DaVinci Time Travel Series
Aren't
some of the best things in life unexpected? Events sometimes ambush you and sweep
you off in a new direction. You get an unexpected job offer… the jerk who asked
you out turns out to have wonderful best friend…. You know what I mean. Life surprises
you, and you just have to go with it.
Well, it happens to writers, too.
Those surprise characters and ideas that pop out of nowhere can be so much fun
you just have to follow wherever they lead you. In fact, I was ambushed
into writing the DaVinci Time Travel Series. I was writing ONE
WITH THE SHADOWS, when a secondary character, Donnatella, the powerful vampire
mother of my hero, swept in and captivated me. Her life was poisoned by regret
that she didn't make her one true love, a barbarian slave in Caligula's Rome,
into a vampire too, so they could share the ages together. I just loved Donnatella.
She was just the kind of mother everyone wants (except the vampire part.) So I
decided in ONE WITH THE DARKNESS
to let her go back and try to rectify her mistake. How? Donnatella's friend, Leonardo
DaVinci, built her a time machine. Leonardo's machine was-unexpected. I
decided to make it the core of my next series. Leonardo's wonderful machine is
passed from heroine to heroine, each using it to find renewal in her life in surprising
ways. So, I was surprised by Donnatella, by the time machine, by the fact
that I wanted to write a series that allowed for contemporary setting for a change,
and which could have vampires in it… or not. My characters are always surprised
by the turns their lives take, too. Each of my heroines makes desperate decisions
as they fight for meaning and love in her life.
Here are the books in the
DaVinci Time Travel Series so far:
- ONE
WITH THE DARKNESS — Donnatella gets her own story, and a chance to change
the actions that caused her a lifetime of regret. Her friend, Leonardo DaVinci,
built her a time machine. Return with her to Caligula's Rome and the barbarian
slave, Jergan, to whom she is inexplicably drawn. It's not as easy to change the
past as you might think.
- TIME FOR ETERNITY
— Being a vampire isn't all it's cracked up to be. Frankie Suchet hates
her life, and hates Henri Foucault, Duc d’Avignon. He infected her with his blood
and abandoned her over two hundred years ago during the French Revolution. Now,
offered a chance to go back in time to change the event that ruined her life,
she resolves to kill the vampire she once thought she loved. But she finds she
knew only half the truth about Henri. As the mob closes in, it may be too late
for a second chance at love.
- A TWIST IN TIME
— Shy bookseller Lucy Rossano never expected to find a time machine. And
she never expected to use it to bring back a wounded tenth-century Viking named
Galen. Now a top secret government agency wants her time machine and her Viking
and she and Galen must flee for their lives. Galen becomes her protector but only
their shared passion can awaken their mutual powers, and time is running out.
Drawn to a destiny neither alone can embrace, for Lucy and Galen, it’s now… or
forever.
- THE MISTS OF TIME
— Diana Dearborn knows all about romance, at least in the books she writes. But passion eludes her in real life — until she's offered the chance to travel back in time to Camelot. The world of King Arthur and Guinevere is nothing like she pictured, and neither is the knight she encounters upon her return to San Francisco: Gawain, the hero of her current project. He's complicated, mysterious, and sexier than anything her imagination could conjure. And he's been waiting for her. . . Now, joined together in a desperate race, Diana and Gawain must prevent an ancient, evil force from wreaking mayhem in the all-too-real present. Diana must learn to trust Gawain, even while she encounters secrets about her own past. But even if their mission succeeds, does Diana’s destiny lie with this man from another time — and will their love alter history forever.
